Wedding personality type is highly influential when it comes to planning a wedding. There are a lot of things you need to consider – from what the wedding party will wear, to what the menu will look like, which venue you choose for the wedding ceremony and even the font on the invitation – suddenly there are thousands of decisions to make, both big and small. Though even the small ones can feel pretty big! But what we’ve noticed is that people approach wedding planning in very different ways, and it’s nothing to do with the wedding itself – and everything to do with the people involved. That where your wedding personality type comes in.
So in this blog, we explore how your wedding personality type affects how you interact with others, and how it can change the way you plan your wedding from start to finish. And there’s no better place to start than identifying your wedding personality type. Broadly speaking, there are 4 different personality types. You might be just one, or you may be a combination. But each one has a different approach to planning a wedding, and this is what they look like:
The Bubbly
Fast-paced, sociable and impulsive
Like a good bottle of Champagne, you’re full of energy and always racing around to do things. Bubbly people like to move fast and make decisions quickly. You might have a short attention span and get bored very quickly, so it’s safe to say that detailed planning isn’t your strong suit! Bubbly planners tend to be at their best when they’re with other people, but try not to get too distracted from the task at hand.
One of the things that makes Bubbly people great planners is that they are creative and are great ideas people. You can come up with grand concepts and amazing options, but while you’re good at starting a project, you might get bored and give up easily before the whole thing is fully formed.
If you’re a Bubbly personality, or are marrying someone who is, the best way to harness your creativity and get things done is to take your time to think things through and discuss ideas with your partner – or someone else who can help you work out the details. This stops you making impulsive decisions and means your ideas will actually become a reality.
The Planner
Considered, organised and detail focussed.
There’s a really easy way to tell if you’re a planner, and that’s by counting how many lists you have! Planners love a list and have a meticulous eye for detail (it drives the Bubbly personalities a bit crazy at times), which makes them very organised people. Planners were born to plan weddings! As soon as that engagement ring hit your finger (if not before), you were downloading planning software, making lists of all the things you needed to do, set up several Pinterest boards and bought a new set of highlighters.
As a planner, you might get frustrated when other people aren’t as organised as you are. You might have a tendency to worry, and will double or even triple check everything, just to make sure. If you are a planner, then our best advice is to involve your partner in your organising and list making, so that they know what’s going on and can help you relax by taking some of the burden off your shoulders.
The Best Friend
Supportive, loyal and kind.
A Best Friend personality is warm and caring, and a big people person. You like to get to know everyone and become good friends, so when you’re planning a wedding it’s important that you have good relationships with all your suppliers. You’re one of those people that takes the time to get to know people and have a good chat.
You also find it very hard to say no. You love helping people out, which often means you end up with too many jobs to do and not enough time. Day to day that can be challenging, but when you’re planning a wedding it can quickly become unmanageable. So when planning, try to be your own best friend and look after yourself as well as others, Remember that ‘no’ is a complete sentence, and you are allowed to use it sometimes. After all – it’s your wedding!
The Master of Ceremonies
Decisive, direct and practical.
As a Master of Ceremonies, you’re the kind of person that gets things done – and makes sure that everything is done properly. But you’re very good at making sure you don’t have to do it all yourself. You’re great at delegating, directing events and solving problems. If anything goes wrong along the way, you’re the person to get it fixed!
Focussed and organised, the Master of Ceremonies types are not easily distracted by the more sentimental aspects of the wedding planning. Instead, you prefer to stick to practicalities. However, this might mean that you miss out on some of the most enjoyable parts of the wedding planning process. So by all means do the practical stuff, but make sure you make time for the hearts and flowers too.
